China’s achievements in space industry have gained worldwide reputation. Behind these achievements, many successful practices in space product assurance which are of distinct Chinese characteristics have played the key role. The most successful experience is the famous Double Five Zeroings (the Chinese style FRACAS) in full R&D cycle of space programs. Through strict zeroings for each fault or failure or even a harmless system anomaly emerged in system R&D, technological as well as managerial defects are systematically analyzed and eliminated, and the lessons learned are communicated to all ongoing space programs, whatever the developmental stages they are and which company is responsible for the specific program. Through this integrated Chinese style FRACAS, high cost effectiveness is guaranteed in the space industry. This talk introduces the background, principles, and implementation details of the Double Five Zeroings of China’s space industry in the context of space product assurance. It will also give a forecast of the possible future developments of this successful practice in the current maturing process of China space industry.
