Advanced QMS activities for improving outputs of Research , Development and Operation

IST(Institute of Space Technology) perform the promotion of fundamental research and maintaining and up-grading of basic technology in aerospace field, and APG(Aviation Program Group) perform the promotion of aviation programs to demonstrate key system technologies of airplanes. After IST and APG obtained ISO9001:2000 certification in March, 2006, the activities to improve the level of QMS(Quality Management System) are under way for improve outputs of R&D(Research and Development) and prevent potential nonconformities. These activities are called AQMS(Advanced Quality Management System) and as a part of these activities gMieru-Kah activity, gGroup study for Reliability and Quality Assuranceh activity and gReal-time Feedback of Social Conditionh activity are performed. In this paper gMieru-Kah activity, gGroup study for Reliability and Quality Assuranceh activity and gReal-time Feedback of Social Conditionh activity are introduced as concrete examples of AQMS. gMieru-Kah activity is a visualizing activity and in this activity each sections makes their gMieru-Kah target as one of quality objectives. Communalization and early detection of the problem and acceleration of the problem solving are advanced by visualization of the present conditions of R&D from the viewpoints of situation, problem, knowledge, management and customer. As gGroup study for Reliabilityh activity, effective methods in each steps of R&D, which are QFD(Quality Function Development), Taguchi-method(also called Robust Design), FMEA(Failure Mode Effect Analysis) , are studied in individual sectional meeting. In QFD meeting and Taguchi-method meeting basic education of the technique and training of an application of the technique are performed, and in FMEA meeting, review of the conventional technique and the enforcement system is performed for improvement of reliability of R&D. As gReal-time Feedback of Social Conditionh activity, field data of real-time social conditions and technical trends are gathered by newspapers and technical magazines, and the lesson and learn are analyzed, extracted, developed in all sections for prevention of the same nonconformity in JAXA.
