This Round Table will be held on Wednesday 3rd October.
Objectives
The objective of the Round Table is to provide a forum for industry to air its views on AOCS sensors and actuators in order to provide inputs for the construction of ESA's long term development planning. Views and opinions are sought from both unit suppliers and users and should concentrate on:
| • | problems and deficiencies that have been encountered but could be resolved with delta developments | |
| • | future trends from the view point of user needs and supplier perceived possible developments from technology push | |
| • | future market and how Europe can prepare to meet the challenges imposed by competition from China, India and the US in the future |
Topics
The satellite and AOCS primes are encouraged to give presentations of no longer than 25 minutes covering the following areas:
| • | Problems and limitations of current generation units | |
| • | Perceived future trends in unit complement for different missions | |
| • | Perceived key unit developments for the future, including justification. Mass, cost, power, delivery time, EGSE, robustness and functionality should be considered | |
| • | Prime view on the s/c and AOCS unit market place in the future, justification for this view | |
| • | Prime view on standardisation and interfaces | |
| • | Issues regarding EEE components and ITAR |
The AOCS hardware suppliers are encouraged to give presentations of no longer than 20 minutes covering the following areas:
| • | Areas of improvement perceived as possible via use of new technology | |
| • | Different procurement approaches and their impacts | |
| • | The impact of different interfaces | |
| • | The perceived market place and key competitors of the future, what is needed to gain a competitive edge | |
| • | The perceived future key requirements (cost trends, mass, power, performance, robustness…) and opinions on what are the key areas of development | |
| • | The effects of ITAR and EEE hi rel components | |
| • | Where the company would like to be in 10 years time (products, sales volumes…) |
Organisation
The Round Table shall include presentations by industry per instructions above. There should be an open call for presentations from satellite and AOCS hardware primes. The organisers will also send specific invitations to the major primes. The presentations will be screened against the instructions above. The current planning is based in one day round table but we may wish to use an additional half-day if there is a good response of presentations.
Deadline
Draft presentations showing a clear outline should be submitted by 28 August.
Abstract Submission
Contributions in forms of well focused oral presentations are welcome.
Please submit your (maximum) 1-page abstract through the on-line submission form available here.
